Student Council is a student organization, which is comprised of  3rd  through 5^th grade students. In the fall of the school year, each class holds an election for candidates. Each classroom selects one candidate and one campaign manager. The student with the most votes becomes the candidate and the runner up becomes the campaign manager; both students then work together to make posters and speeches for the candidate. Third grade students run for secretary, fourth grade students run for vice- president, and the fifth grade students run for president of student council. 

Student Council members set an example for the rest of the school to follow. They work on being positive role models and helping out their fellow classmates.    They also share the information discussed at the meetings with their grade levels. The President runs all of the meetings with the help of the vice- president and the secretary. This allows everyone to learn how business meetings are run.

Raising money is another activity that Student Council helps with. In the past they have helped collect money for Hurricane Katrina victims, Relay For Life, and the Make A Wish Foundation. Not only do they help raise money for great causes they also run a canned food drive which is usually held in the month of November. They have also organized a drive to collect pet food for the Humane Society.

Working with others is very important to the members of Student Council and they model this by working together with other various organizations. They worked with the American Red Cross to sponsor a blood drive in 2006. They have also worked with the UNITE club to help raise money for the UNITE Fund (Uganda North Carolina International Teaching for the Environment). Student Council also sponsors activities like a Lego Contest and a Talent Show to involve the whole student body.

We are proud of our Student Council and the many things that they have accomplished. Every year we are involved in wonderful new activities. We look forward to what each new school year brings.
