Video Production
Our school’s video production team consists of talented 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students. There is a fall semester team and a spring semester team. Each video production member works to produce a prerecorded bi-monthly student news show called The Friday Show. The show highlights students and events around the school.
Video production team members take on various roles, such as news anchor, reporter, weatherman, scientist or whatever is determined by the team members for their semester. They have a special talent at making learning fun with special effects and features. Each spring semester we feature a staff challenge. Some past staff challenges have included our versions of Survivor, American Idol and Project Runway.
Video production team members assist with the planning, script writing and videotaping of each segment. As an annual culminating event, the fall and spring semester video production teams participate in a fieldtrip to WFMY News 2 television station. The students are able to take a tour behind the scenes to learn about video production at a television station. A favorite highlight of the trip is when students are featured on the live news at noon. The fieldtrip winds down with a delicious meal at Kabuto Japanese Steakhouse before returning to school.
