Biography:

This is my 19th year in education. I began my career as a Title I teacher in middle school.  Later I worked an itinerant position, teaching art, music and PE in three elementary schools.  After a year of traveling between schools, I had the pleasure of settling down in one place and teaching third graders for the next seven years, during which time I got my Master’s Degree in Educational Administration.  In 2001 my family and I moved to North Carolina and I taught fifth grade at Balfour Elementary for two years before utilizing my certification in Administration. I was the assistant principal at Balfour Elementary from 2003-2011. At the close of the 2011 school year I got the opportunity to grow and face new challenges, while still supported by the staff of Asheboro City Schools.  July 1, 2011, I start as the assistant principal for McCrary Elementary.   I have been with the Asheboro City School district for 10 years and feel very fortunate to work with such an excellent team of professionals.

On a personal level, I am married to Patrick McHenry and live just outside of Asheboro. We have three sons, Dane, Eric, and Cord. I love animals especially, dogs. I have two of them. – Twanda (Rat Terrier) and Ting Li (Chinese Crested).  I also enjoy yoga, painting, and shopping.
